This Is What We Do
- Documentation (worksheet for the death certificate information and cremation consent form) is emailed to the family to start the cremation process.
- Deceased is transferred to our funeral home by our professional staff.
- The deceased remains in our care, on site, in refrigeration, until such time as all three legal documents are completed: (1. family’s consent, 2. cause of death and doctor’s signature on death certificate, and 3. county medical examiner’s permission to cremate).
- Deceased is placed in an alternative container (or casket) either purchased or provided by the family.
- Deceased is transported to family-owned Memorial Fields Crematory (Breckenridge, Michigan) for cremation.
- Death certificate is filed with the county clerk (in the county in which the death occurred).
- Social Security is notified of the death by our staff.
- A short death notice is placed on website.
- Cremated remains are returned to our facility within 7-10 business days after the completion of all authorizations (see #3).
- Family picks up cremated remains from funeral home (unless family pays to have ashes shipped, registered mail, via USPS).
